Dancers
- Natalee Campbell is pursuing her M.S. in textiles at North Carolina State University, with plans to graduate in December 2008, and she earned her B.S. in textile and apparel management from the the same university in 2002. While completing her undergraduate and graduate degrees, she was a member of the NCSU Dance Company under the direction of Robin Harris, Autumn Mist Belk, and Megan Marvel. With the NCSU Dance Company, she performed at American College Dance Festivals, the University of North Carolina Festival of the Arts, the Triangle Dance Festival for AIDS, and toured with the North Carolina Dance Festival.
- Jill Bradley Hall teaches a lot. Currently she teaches everything from Creative Movement to Modern to Ballroom at We’re Got Rhythm Dance Academy and Moving Voices, The Isadora Duncan Cultural Exchange. Previous professional experiences include; David Dorfman Dance Company, Absolute Dance Company, West Virginia Dance Company, Theatre West Virginia, Kitchen Sink Dance Company and Halifax County Little Theatre. Jill is a 2000 graduate of James Madison University with a B.A. in dance.
- Valerie Gerry Mayer received her B.A. in psychology from Dartmouth College. As a member of the Dartmouth Dance Ensemble, she had the opportunity to work with visiting artists such as Terry Creach, Karinne Keithley, and Heidi Henderson. After graduating, she traveled to Costa Rica to study dance at the Universidad Nacional in Heredia. Last December she received her M.F.A. in choreography and performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she toured with the CU Graduate Touring Company and taught beginning modern dance to undergraduates.
- Gerren Mobley, a native of South Florida, began studying dance at the age of three, becoming a very serious young dancer in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, hip-hop, and acrobatics. He trained at Southern Dance Theater in Boynton Beach, Florida, and was a student in the dance department at Palm Beach County School of the Arts. In 1996, he moved to North Carolina and continued training intensely at Cary Ballet Conservatory where he is now a faculty member and choreographer for the 3D Project which has been hailed nationally among concert jazz professionals and dancers as a premier pre-professional jazz company for dancers six and up. Gerren is a graduate of North Carolina State University’s College of Management and, while in school, was a member of the NCSU Dance Company for two years. Gerren has choreographed for the NC State Dance Program, and he has performed at the American College Dance Festival’s Gala and as a guest artist for Megan Marvel’s graduate thesis concert. He is ecstatic to be dancing with the newly launched Code f.a.d. Company!
- Kelley Murphy began her dance career at a small dance studio in Ohio. She continued dancing in college where she received her B.F.A. in modern dance and choreography from Ohio University in 2002, as well as a minor in art. She has performed with The Ohio Dance Festival, Regional & National College American Dance Festivals, Ohio University & Kent State Dance Concerts as well as being a Dance Masters of America Scholarship Recipient. After college, Kelley studied at The Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive Program in NYC. While there she was chosen to perform in The Ailey Repertory Concert. Since then, she has performed with several professional modern dance companies including: The Dance Cure and Anatomical Scenario in Columbus, Ohio, as well as Nickwalk Dance Project in North Carolina. In addition to modern dance, Kelley has been a member of The Carolina Railhawks Professional Dance Team for two years. Kelley has been teaching throughout Ohio and North Carolina for the past 4 years. Aside from dancing she enjoys spending time with her family as well as pursuing a freelance photography career. Kelley is very excited about working with Code f.a.d. Company.
- Brooks Owens graduated from East Carolina University with a B.F.A in Dance Education. She completed her student teaching at Ligon GT Magnet middle school under the instruction of Freddie-Lee Heath and currently teaches tap, modern, and jazz at the North Carolina Dance Institute in Raleigh. Brooks received training from Mia Michaels, Roger Belman, Patti Weeks, and Tommi Galaska and has studied at Broadway Dance Center and Alvin Alley Studios in New York City. Previously, she was assistant director of Arts in Action in Chapel Hill, founded by Jacques D’Amboise, and she was a performer in the American College Dance Festival and part of the Dance Ensemble while at ECU. Brooks is currently the Director of the Dance Department at Cardinal Gibbons High School and is thrilled to be apart of Code f.a.d. Company!
- Christina Serafino is a Connecticut native who grew up dancing and competing with Dance Arts Centre in Bristol, CT, under the instruction of Mark Simpson. During this time, she studied a variety of dance styles including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, pointe and acrobatics. Christina went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 2004, while also earning a minor in business. During the summer of 2002, she attended the Pro Danza Italia workshop in Castiglioncello, Italy, where she studied and performed with renowned modern, jazz, African and tap choreographers from the United States, Canada and Italy. Christina also performed in the premiere of David Dorfman's "Underground" at the American Dance festival in 2006. She also choreographs and performs with Choreo Collective, a non-profit collective of Triangle area modern dancers and choreographers committed to exploring the creative process and increasing the presence of the performing arts in the community. Christina currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Robert Thurston-Lighty has performed with Boston Ballet, the Royal Ballet, White Oak Dance Project, and José Mateo’s Ballet Theatre. Prior to joining Code f.a.d., Robert was a member of the Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble and the Plymouth Ballet Company. He also recently choreographed and performed Negotiations at the Dance Complex in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Robert’s dance training includes study at the Raleigh School of Ballet, José Mateo’s Ballet Theatre, and Boston Ballet School.
